Updating Customs Goods Fees in 2023 and 2024
03.27pm 22 March 2023
Customs is consulting on the option of across-the-board inflation-based increases in its goods fees in 2023 and 2024.
These increases would maintain the real value of the fees, pending a more comprehensive review focused on the sustainability and equity of Customs’ goods charges.
Customs’ goods fees fund its Goods Management System. That system is integral to New Zealand’s commerce and supply chains and protects New Zealand from a broad range of harms.
For more information, view the consultation document (PDF 450 KB). Submissions are due by 5 pm on 18 April 2023 and should be sent to revenue.policy@customs.govt.nz. Please note that Customs’ subsequent advice to the Government may not be able to take full account of submissions if they are received after that date.
